Application of X-ray diffuse scattering to structure determinations of point-defects

چکیده
2014 A review is given on the use of diffuse X-ray scattering for the determination of point defect structures in crystalline solids. Diffuse scattering yields a direct method for obtaining detailed information on the displacement fields both near to and far away from the defects in addition to information on the particular position of the defect. Theoretical models involving the use of lattice statics can be used to evaluate measurements carried out with the aid of new, high power X-ray generators and multiple detector systems. Through the study of diffuse scattering between and close to Bragg reflections single defects such as interstitials and vacancies up to large point defect agglomerates that are visible in the electron microscope can be investigated. Application of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues
ABSTRACT Background: Coherent scattering leads to diffraction effects and especially constructive interferences. Theseinterferences carry some information about the molecular structure of the tissue. As breast cancer isthe most widespread cancer in women, this project evaluated the application of small angleX-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues....
متن کاملFully Atomistic Analysis of Diffuse X-ray Scattering Spectra of Silicon Defects
Diffuse X-ray scattering is a useful method for studying defects in silicon and metals. Although the traditional approaches of analyzing experimental diffuse X-ray scattering data have given much information about the size of defects and defect clusters, they are not very well suited for determining the atomic configuration. We present a fully atomistic computational method to calculate the dif...
متن کاملAtomistic simulation of diffuse x-ray scattering from defects in solids
Diffuse x-ray scattering is a powerful means to study the structure of defects in crystalline solids. The traditional analysis of diffuse x-ray scattering experiments relies on analytical and numerical methods which are not well suited for studying complicated defect configurations. We present here an atomistic simulation method by which the diffuse x-ray scattering can be calculated for an arb...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Highly Porous TiO2 Scaffolds for Bone Defects
The purpose of this study was to fabricate and investigate the highly porous structure using titanium dioxide, which is a candidate for bone defect repairing. For this purpose, TiO2 scaffolds were synthesized using titanium butoxide, Pluronic F127 surfactant, and polyurethane foam blocks. Therefore, a colloid includes titanium butoxide and F127 and the polyurethane foams were immersed in it. Th...
متن کاملHealing X-ray scattering images
X-ray scattering images contain numerous gaps and defects arising from detector limitations and experimental configuration. We present a method to heal X-ray scattering images, filling gaps in the data and removing defects in a physically meaningful manner. Unlike generic inpainting methods, this method is closely tuned to the expected structure of reciprocal-space data. In particular, we explo...
